Along with co-anchor Savannah Guthrie from Today Show, Kotb, 59, found a new trend among her viewers during an appearance on Tuesday, July 9, Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Following Kevin Costner’s appearance on “Today last month,” one audience member asked the journalist, “How do you feel about fans “shipping” you and Kevin Costner? And having the two of you linked since?
Kotb was startled by the inquiry and cried out, “Wait, what?”
Cohen, 56, promptly said, “The viewers want the two of you together.” Then she turned to Guthrie, 52, echoing her astonishment with a shocked glance.
Cohen promptly agreed, “Yes, yes, yes, yes,” as Kotb remarked, “I have never heard that, not one time.”
Excitement drove Guthrie to ask, “Well, you heard it now, you up to it?” While she was clapping her fists.
“Well, if the viewers want it,” Kotb said, flashing a mischievous smirk toward the camera.
Guthrie said, “Give the people what they want.”
Following Kotb’s Tuesday discussion, Jenna Bush Hager, co-anchor of Today With Hoda and Jenna, brought up the potential coupling during the Wednesday, July 10 installment of the show.
42-year-old Bush Hager playfully cited Kotb’s Tuesday show and the growing curiosity among viewers about a possible love relationship between the anchor and the 69-year-old Oscar winner.
“I had no idea Kevin and you were delivering! Bush Hager said, “I didn’t even know what shipping meant,” and Kotb added she was also not familiar with the word.
