Johnny Depp’s ‘Modi’ Takes Center Stage: San Sebastian Film Festival to Host World Premiere

Johnny Depp is grateful to the entire cast, crew, and producers for their commitment.

Johnny Depp’s second directorial film, Modi — Three Days on the Wings of Madness, will make its debut at the San Sebastian Film Festival in September.

In a statement released to Variety, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor reflected on his “incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience” while filming his comeback movie.

“I would like to express my profound gratitude to the entire cast, crew, and producers for their unwavering commitment and creativity,” Depp remarked.

The Alice in Wonderland actress said, “To Al, who requested that I make this film — how could I refuse Pacino? A sincere acknowledgment for generously contributing his talent and dedication to this project.”

“‘Modi’ embodies the collaborative essence of independent filmmaking, and I’m thrilled to share this distinctive and captivating story with the world,” added the 61-year-old.

According to the publication, the film will premiere in the festival’s out-of-competition strand.

“Modi is a tale of art, love and rejection that follows a 72-hour whirlwind of chaotic events through the streets and bars of a Paris torn apart during World War I,” according to the film’s official trailer.

Interestingly, the movie cast also includes Stephen Graham, Al Pacino, and Antonia Desplat.

For those unfamiliar, Depp’s first directorial film was The Brave, which debuted in 1997.

However, the Modi movie is regarded as his comeback film following his 2022 court battle with former wife Amber Heard.

Depp also starred in Maïwenn’s Jeanne du Barry, which premiered at Cannes 2023.
