Christina Aguilera wants to bring together ‘the past and present’ for the upcoming 25th anniversary of her debut album.
Christina Aguilera has teamed up with Sabrina Carpenter for a particularly special celebration of her debut album’s 25th anniversary.
On Wednesday, Aguilera, 43, posted a humorous TikTok video of Carpenter, who is as old as Aguilera’s debut album, lip-syncing to a popular scene from The Kardashians.
In the video, Carpenter playfully referred to Aguilera as her “mom,” imitating Kylie Jenner’s line: “I’m obsessed with my mom… I am her favourite. We actually have a relationship like she has no other kids.”
Notably, the duo was glammed up and sitting in what appeared to be a studio, with microphones and instruments visible in the the background.
The Espresso singer uploaded the video on Instagram Stories, writing in the caption, “I don’t think you understand, I’m obsessed.”
Carpenter will join the former The Voice judge in honoring the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album on an upcoming edition of Spotify Anniversaries.
Aguilera expressed her excitement to Rolling Stone, saying, “I wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my debut album in a way that brings together the past and present.” And what better way to realize that idea than to collaborate with the Gold Derby Awards’ Best New Artist of 2024?
Carpenter, who has long adored Aguilera, told People magazine in August that she has been a fan since childhood, describing the pop star as “one of my very first idols and icons.”
“She’s very special to me. Those songs raised me,” Carpenter remarked, alluding to the significance of their upcoming collab.
