Anna Kendrick has a very different take on ‘Twilight’ fame than her co-stars.
Anna Kendrick discussed how Twilight became such a cultural touchstone that, despite her participation, it occasionally felt like a different creature from her own career.
In a recent Call Her Daddy podcast interview, Kendrick confirmed her rather surprising claim that she has “forgotten” about her role in the franchise.
She added that, while she never forgot the experience of creating the films, the franchise grew on such a vast life of its own that it frequently felt separated from her.
Kendrick went on to say that throughout her career, she constantly heard conversations in the industry mentioning Twilight as a benchmark for success, discussing how to make “the next Twilight.”
These events resulted in her abrupt realization of her role in the franchise, “Oh my god, I’m in that.”
She stated that, unlike many of her co-stars who received considerable scrutiny and attention, particularly those playing supernatural characters, she felt relatively removed from the franchise’s frenzy.
Kendrick described herself as being “on the outside” of the media frenzy around Twilight.
While other actors dealt with extreme fan reactions and criticism for their depictions, she did not face the same kind of pressure, allowing her to keep a different perspective on the franchise.
