Amanda Abbington thought back on her Strictly Come Dancing experience.
Reflecting on her Strictly Come Dancing experience, Amanda Abbington said the show was “tough” and “horrible.”
During a candid interview with The Sunday Times, the Sherlock star who left the show weeks into the 2023 series revealed once and for once the misbehavior behind the scenes. Reminiscing the horrible encounter, she said: “I’ve had the worst experience. The show was tough and horrible, but the aftermath of it I was not expecting. It’s been really brutal and it just hasn’t stopped.”
“It has been terrible; simply unrelenting. Death threats and rape threats for merely standing up for something I felt to be wrong,” she said.
Abbington also advised the outlet on the need for her to speak out on the matter.
The 50-year-old said, “When I’m in a rehearsal room I make sure that it’s a place where everyone feels safe and feels like they’re having a nice time. And that courtesy wasn’t extended to me.”
The site cleared the misunderstanding that she quit Strictly due to Giovanni Pernice, reporting that she had a “medical scare” as per her statement, but emphasized that “she was grateful to be given a reason to escape.”
