With a dance rendition of the appealing song from the Eddie Murphy-led franchise, Crazy Frog shot to the top in 2005.
The title character of Eddie Murphy in the Netflix Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F has an unexpected battling criminal companion.
On Friday, the streaming service unveiled a new teaser for the action-comedy film featuring Crazy Frog, the cartoon creature that became somewhat well-known with a dance-focused rendition of the theme tune of over two decades ago. Key shots from the movie showing Crazy Frog thrown into the action to create additional turmoil for Murphy’s character abound in the new promo.
Friday’s video on Netflix’s official X (previously Twitter) featured the phrase, “CRAZY FROG AND AXEL FOLEY???.” Among the responses to the post were those of T-Mobile, who remarked, “The GOAT of ringtones.” “Invented ringtones,” Netflix answered.
Originally sold by ringtone vendor Jamba, Crazy Frog is credited as an invention of Erik Wernquist back in 2003! Harold Faltermeyer wrote the theme song for the franchise, “Axel F,” which premiered in the original 1984 picture Beverly Hills Cop and hit No. 1 in the U.K., Australia, France, and many other nations across the world in 2005. Originally developed from a dance version by Murphy Brown and Captain Hollywood released two years ago, the Crazy Frog tune with the cartoon frog speaking in gibberish was modified.
“Axel F and @crazyfrog have been a legendary team since 2005,” said a description of the new teaser from the Crazy Frog YouTube page. “Crazy Frog is back with a brand-new Netflix Film Beverly Hills Cop music video.”
Currently available on Netflix is the fourth movie in the series, Mark Molloy directed Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. The film, which centers on Foley (Murphy) returning to Beverly Hills to help defend his daughter, Jane (Paige), and longtime friend Billy Rosewood ( Judge Reinhold), stars Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, and Kevin Bacon.
Molloy just informed The Hollywood Reporter that the newest movie included the famous music of the film.
“For me, the music of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise has so much of the identification and the tone of the films,” Molloy said. “It is crucial. We have the score and Axel F has all those significant needle decreases as well.
