Demi Lovato opens up about important moments in her career.
Demi Lovato is ready to discuss all of her difficult experiences.
Lovato does not hesitate to share her worst moments in her new documentary Child Star, her directorial debut.
The American singer went on to share the sad reality about her life and career, including how fame impacted her mental health.
“I didn’t realize that it would have such a negative impact on my mental health,” the 32-year-old actress stated.
She kept going: “And unfortunately, sometimes that looks explosive, like an incident where you punch your backup dancer on an airplane or you overdose from heroin.”
For those who don’t know, Lovato punched a dancer on stage during The Jonas Brothers tour in 2010. The incident prompted the Sorry Not Sorry songstress to go to rehab and take a break from music.
As revealed in her documentary, the Disney star was misusing drugs and alcohol at the time, resulting in three strokes and a near-fatal heart attack.
However, the dancing incident made her realize that this could not continue.
Lovato stated that making the personal documentary allowed her to correct her wrongs.
“Talking to people who knew me at a different time in my life was challenging because I wanted to apologize for my behavior,” she said.
Looking back, the actress admits, “I wasn’t the nicest person to work with at times because I was struggling so much internally, and I was under a lot of pressure.”
This comes after the Grey’s Anatomy star revealed in a recent interview that she’s in a “really good place” right now and is “figuring out” her sound for her musical comeback.
