The Grammy-winning musician has also unveiled the music video for the track “Little Foot Big Foot,” much to the delight of her fans.
Atavista is the name of the new album that Donald Glover, better known by his stage as Childish Gambino, suddenly published.
Glover told his fans, “AVISTA is streaming now,” in a post on X on May 12.
The man behind “Redbone” said in the same announcement that the album is the finished version of “3.15.20,” which was released four years prior. Reworked songs from the 2020 album are included, he said, along with the brand-new single “Little Foot Big Foot.”
The Grammy-winning musician also debuted a music video for the song, which features Young Nudy, which thrilled fans. Longtime colleague Hiro Murai created the black-and-white music video for the song, which stars Quinta Brunson, Monyett Crump, Rob Bynes, and others.
Glover announced earlier this year that he would be releasing two albums—Atavista and Bando Stone & the New World—before putting the Childish Gambino moniker on retirement. The latter will go along with his summer release of the same-titled film.
Remastered and renamed Atavista, the record Gambino launched four years ago on 3.15.20, the day the epidemic began.
New production arrangements and more guests—among them Atlanta rapper Yung Nudy—are included in the revised version of the project.
When the album was first released in 2020, its tracklist had tracks titled according to their timestamp in the album’s overall history, which at the time seemed to have a big impact on its replay value.
When asked about his strategy last year, Gambino said, “That’s just what I was going through,” to Complex. People are going to want what they want, but I have to share my experience. I was going through a lot and had just lost my father. I had also just had a kid. I talked of the many new experiences I was having.”
