Artem Chigvintsev, a professional dancer on “Dancing With the Stars,” responds to Nikki Garcia’s court filings.
Artem Chigvintsev has responded to his estranged wife Nikki Garcia’s divorce filing by filing court documents.
E! News reported on September 13 that two weeks after the Dancing with the Stars pro dancer was arrested on domestic violence charges, Garcia, 40, filed for the dissolution of their two-year marriage.
Chigvintsev, who has a four-year-old son named Matteo with Garcia, responded by submitting his motions to the court on Friday, certifying their separation date as August 29, the day of his detention.
According to court documents obtained by US Weekly, Chigvintsev, 42, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their breakup.
In addition, the former DWTS contestant is demanding spousal support and attorney’s expenses from Garcia, 40. He also asked for shared legal and physical custody of Matteo.
In contrast, Garcia has filed for sole legal and physical custody of their baby, according to court records acquired by TMZ on September 11.
However, the former WWE star Nikki Bella has stated that she may consider granting Chigvintsev visitation rights.
The pair has yet to discuss their divorce publicly.
