As part of the Tribute Awards, TIFF also plans to honor Amy Adams and David Cronenberg for their work.
The Toronto Film Festival has announced the first films that will be shown in its 2024 edition. These include the world premieres of Elton John: Never Too Late, The Life of Chuck by Mike Flanagan, and Nightbitch by Marielle Heller, which stars Amy Adams as a stay-at-home mom whose life goes crazy.
The Life of Chuck is based on the same-named short story by Stephen King in 2020. This year, Toronto will run from September 5th to September 15th. It plans to honor David Cronenberg and Adams’s careers as part of its Tribute Awards.
David Furnish and R.J. Cutler’s documentary about Elton John is part of the gala show at Roy Thomson Hall. So is Woo Min-ho’s Harbin, which stars Hyun Bin, Lee Dong-wook, Park Jeong-min, and Jeon Yeo-been; and there is also Chris Sanders’ The Wild Robot from DreamWorks Animation.
The Wild Robot is a cartoon movie with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, a robot that gets lost at sea and has to learn how to live on an island.
Tom Hiddleston’s movie Nightbitch is in the Special Presentations corner, as is Sydney Freeland’s Rez Ball, which will be shown for the first time in Toronto.
The chief programming officer for Toronto, Anita Lee, said in a statement, “We know that TIFF audiences have been eagerly anticipating what films will be coming to Toronto this September. Today’s announcement is a snapshot of what’s to come this year: a wonderfully wide range of titles that span genres and generations, with discoveries for everyone.”
