‘I think my body was telling me,’ the ‘We Live in Time’ star recalls on what drove her to get tested.
Florence Pugh trusted her feelings that something wasn’t right with her health, which led to a life-changing diagnosis.
On the SHE MD podcast with Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi and Mary Alice Haney, the 28-year-old We Live in Time actress discussed how a gut feeling led her to seek medical advice.
“I had this sudden feeling that I should go and get everything checked. I’d had a few weird dreams, I think my body was telling me,” she explained.
During her check-up, Pugh had an egg count and found out she had polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis, both of which could limit her fertility.
She remembered being astonished when her doctor offered the test, saying, “I was like, ‘No, what do you mean? I’m so young. Why do I need an egg count?”
The Little Women star described her surprise upon learning about PCOS, a disorder that affects ovarian function, produces increased androgen production, and can lead to infertility.
“I didn’t think it was common… And then, of course, you find out you do have it, and you realize you have to change your lifestyle, you have to be proactive and think ahead into the future,” she said.
