Foo Fighters Cancel New York Show, Urge Fans to ‘Exit the Venue’ Amid Severe Thunderstorm

Severe storms hit the Tri-State area Wednesday evening.

The iconic rock band Foo Fighters were about to begin its summer 2024 ‘Everything Or Nothing At All’ stadium tour with a debut concert at Citi Field in Queens, New York, when a lightning storm forced them to cancel.

According to fans, the band was singing their hit song “Everlong” when the unexpected ending occurred.

Severe storms slammed over the Tri-State area Wednesday evening, causing heavy downpours and flooding that disrupted the venue and affected concert-goers.

At 10:33pm EST, Citi Field’s official X/Twitter account posted a message to fans seeking updates on the event’s progress during the inclement weather, stating: “Unfortunately, due to the continued presence of lightning in the area, tonight’s show has concluded.” Please vacate the venue and have a safe night.

The band issued a statement on X, saying, “We are extremely unhappy that we were unable to do our entire set for tonight’s wonderful crowd at Citi Field. However, the safety of our fans, crew, and everyone working in the stadium comes first, so when it was determined that there was no safe way to continue the event in this hazardous weather, we had no choice but to call it a night. We appreciate every second we had to play for you and hope to see you again – perhaps as soon as Friday!”
