Following his win at the renowned annual award ceremony, Jonathan Groff recently opened up about his passion for the stage.
The 39-year-old actor voiced his desire to film exclusively in an interview with Tamsen Fadal on The Broadway Show. “My favorite thing tonight has been giving it to people to take pictures with… happily,” he said.
At a Carlyle Hotel afterparty, Jonathan said, “That’s the joy of it!”
Speaking with Paul Wontorek, the editor-in-chief of Broadway, Groff said, “The Tony is on a table a few rooms away from here right now. It seems safe to me!”
As he settled down to speak from the Café Carlyle, the actor completely avoided the prize.
It still hasn’t “sunk in” for Groff, who won his first Tony on Sunday, June 16 for portraying the main actor in a musical role in Merrily We Roll Along.
Speaking further on the topic, he said, “I think that’s why I’m giving my Tony to people to take pictures with, because I’m like, ‘What?’ “
