Katie Holmes Confirms Financial Independence from Ex-Husband Cruise as Suri Turns 18
New York, NY – Best renowned for her part in “Batman Begins,” Katie Holmes has decided firmly that her daughter’s upbringing would not require the involvement of her ex-husband Tom Cruise, not even financially. Suri, who turned 18 recently, is the daughter of the couple who filed for divorce in 2012.
The financial links between Cruise and his daughter have ended as Suri has become an adult and the legal requirements for child support have ended. Holmes feels they can carry on with their way of life without his help. “Katie is completely capable of supporting Suri’s future endeavors, whether in academia or the entertainment industry,” the insider said. “Her financial independence is solid.”
The source calls Suri “possibly the next big superstar” and praises her brains, talent, and beauty—qualities they think will help her flourish on her own. Holmes is quite clear about her position: her daughter can survive without Cruise’s help.
This comment comes years after Holmes, alleging problems with Cruise’s Scientology membership, sued for divorce. Holmes was granted sole custody in the divorce agreement, and Cruise was mandated to pay Suri £318,000 a year in child support, which would cover her schooling and medical costs.
Notwithstanding the financial arrangements, there are rumors that Cruise has not been very involved in Suri’s life. This issue sparked a 2013 defamation lawsuit against a US magazine that said Cruise had deserted her.
