Kevin Costner Breaks Silence on Leaving ‘Yellowstone’

Kevin Costner clarifies the ‘Yellowstone’ exit mystery.

Kevin Costner has announced in a heartfelt video that he will not be returning to the Yellowstone series.

Thursday saw the Bodyguard star post an “update” on his return to the popular show for the second half of season 5.

He said in a posted video,“Hi everyone. I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone — that beloved series that I love — that I know you love. I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future.” Costner went on, “It was something that truly transformed me. I know you enjoyed it as much as I did.

“I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning,” the Waterworld actor said.

“I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop,” Costner said in closing. “I’ll see you at the movies.”

The video was made public soon after it was announced on June 20 that the much-awaited second half of the season would be broadcast on Paramount Network on November 10.

Costner played patriarch John Dutton III for four and a half seasons, running from 2018 to 2022.
