Disney officially announced the ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel on social media.
Disney has officially announced that Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis will be the leads in the upcoming sequel to their 2003 film Freaky Friday.
The creators have now chosen to bring back the old lady duet for another installment, officially dubbed Freakier Friday, after a 22-year break.
On August 8, 2025, Lindsay and Jamie will return to the big screen with mayhem.
The official announcement of the sequel was made on Disney’s official Instagram account, where the two actresses referenced the 2003 original movie while striking a spooky posture.
Lohan and Curtis could be seen wearing their night suit pajamas and shirts. The post had a small caption along with the official release date of the film.
The message said, “TGIF. #FreakierFriday opens in theaters August 8, 2025.”
The original cast members of Freakier Friday, including Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao, will also be returning. Nisha Ganatra will take over as director in the meanwhile, replacing Mark Waters.
Jamie Lee Curtis spoke to Extra about Freakier Friday, “[It was ] so fun. We just did it this summer … We came together for 42 days and just laughed a lot, cried a lot.”
