Matt Damon and Casey Affleck Tease Rob Gronkowski’s Cameo in ‘The Instigators’

Casey Affleck and Matt Damon reunite on screen 25 years after starring in ‘Good Will Hunting’

Matt Damon and Casey Affleck are overjoyed that someone other than the star of The Instigators is making a cameo appearance in their upcoming action comedy film, which will premiere on Apple TV+.

The upcoming film follows ex-con Cobby (Affleck) and struggling parent Rory (Damon), two unlikely partners who plan to steal from a dishonest politician. However, the operation goes wrong, and in order to avoid being apprehended, the two enlist the help of Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau) while they are pursued by the police, bureaucrats, and crime leaders.

The film stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, and Toby Jones.

NFL legend Rob Gronkowski will make a guest appearance, and Damon and Affleck can’t help but be excited about it.

The couple told Entertainment Weekly that Gronk was Affleck’s first pick for his anonymous role. The celebs are huge fans of the former athlete, who spent nine seasons with the New England Patriots.

“Devin Walsh, our producer, called him up and, and got him here,” Affleck said. “He really thought he was going to be in it more.”

“He was only there for, you know, a certain amount of time,” Affleck says. “Everybody loves [Gronk].”
