Mindy Kaling recently talked up about a superstar that left her star-struck in Hollywood.
The Never Have I Ever actor took to Instagram’s Threads to interact with her fans, responding to their questions via voice notes and text prompts.
When asked about one celebrity who had impressed her in the entertainment world, she mentioned Hugh Laurie.
The mother of three revealed that she and Hugh had met several times while starring in The Office.
The Office and House aired around the same time, so we often ran into each other at award shows. I was completely starstruck by Hugh Laurie because he starred in Sense and Sensibility, the Emma Thompson adaptation of the Jane Austen novel,” shared the 45-year-old.
Her words were: “It was a real nice overlap of two of my favorite things, grumpy doctors and grump characters from Jane Austen novels.”
Mindy also expressed her TV show obsession on social media after one user noted that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: The Next Generation “helped us through hard times before, during, and after the [COVID] pandemic”.
To which the Emmy nominee said, “I, too, loved the latter and wanted to be Deanna Troi,” alluding to the character played by Marina Sirtis.
Mindy continued, “I also had a crush on Data,” referring to the male android played by Brent Spiner in the series.
Meanwhile, Mindy gave more replies about her favorite television shows, like Hacks, Palm Royale, and Downton Abbey.
