Tony & Ziva, the NCIS spinoff from Paramount, is no longer unnamed. On Zoom on Tuesday, the two stars of the series located in Europe, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, revealed the name of the spin-off.
Following references to two previously proposed titles, NCIS: Europe and NCIS: Trust No One, the pair declared that NCIS: Tony & Ziva will be the actual name of their upcoming series.
Because the viewers will be aware of the actual nature of the presentation, it makes things very simple. It concerns Ziva and Tony in Europe, de Pablo remarked. This summer, filming on the series—the second NCIS franchise outpost outside of the United States, following NCIS: Sydney—is set to start in Budapest. Showrunner/writer John McNamara is involved.
On the mothership NCIS series, Tony (Weatherly) left the squad to take care of their daughter after Ziva’s (de Pablo) purported death. After Ziva was found alive years later, she served out one last NCIS assignment before being reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris. Ever since, and as we see in the upcoming Paramount+ original series, Tony and Ziva have been parenting their daughter Tali together. After Tony’s security firm is attacked, they have to flee across Europe in an attempt to find out who is after them and perhaps even rebuild their trust so they can finally live their unusual happily ever after. “I expect intrigue, romance, a European backdrop, impossible situations that will make our life very complicated but somehow a little something about love,” added de Pablo.
With Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, and Shelley Meals, Weatherly, de Pablo, and McNamara executive produce NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Paramount Global Content Distribution handles the distribution of the show.
