Oprah Winfrey Reveals Why She Never Refers to Herself as Old

Oprah Winfrey discusses aging and friendship in a podcast with Melinda Gates and Gayle King.

Oprah discusses aging and the importance of friendship in Hollywood during a recent visit with her best friend, Gayle King, and famed philanthropist Melinda Gates.

The 70-year-old talk show host turned to Instagram on Sunday to share photographs and videos from the trio’s conversation on the Moments That Make Us podcast.

Gayle began at length by stating, “I don’t have hang-ups about age. When people say you shouldn’t talk about your age I actually don’t feel that way. When I turned 50, the realization hit me that I wouldn’t live another 50 years.

According to the Daily Mail, Oprah responded by stating that she does not consider herself to be “old” and refutes the notion that aging is a bad thing.

In response, Oprah commented, “I never refer to myself as old and I hear lots of people saying that. I don’t even think of myself that way. I was struck by the number 60.”

Meanwhile, the publication stated that Melinda asked her two best friends whether they had any advice for women approaching their forties, fifties, and sixties, to which Gayle emphasized good “self-thinking.”

It is worth noting that Oprah noted that change may be a gift, saying, “One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that change is there to evolve you.”

She went on: “I live in a place that’s surrounded by trees…I watch how things change and evolve and get better and stronger.”

According to the Daily Mail, Oprah admitted to using weightless pills despite previously claiming that she would avoid them.
