Bethesda has just rolled out another minor update for Starfield on September 25th, aimed at addressing some minor bugs and performance issues on PC. While this might offer some relief to players, the community is eagerly awaiting a more substantial update that promises substantial quality-of-life improvements and additional features.
According to Bethesda’s official statement, this latest patch, labeled as Starfield gameplay update 1.7.33, primarily focuses on fixing performance and stability issues. The studio acknowledges that there’s a larger update in the works, which will encompass the features and enhancements previously highlighted in their update notes. The full details of this recent patch are as follows:

This marks the second update for the expansive open-world RPG since its launch on September 1. An earlier “hotfix” was released on September 13, which primarily tackled three significant bugs related to major quests and provided general stability improvements for players on Xbox Series X/S. However, players are still eagerly awaiting more substantial improvements, including additional PC display options, enhanced accessibility features, and overall gameplay enhancements, which are currently missing in action.
One of the prominent sore points at launch was the absence of Nvidia DLSS support, attributed to Starfield’s exclusive partnership with AMD. Although resourceful players managed to mod the game to incorporate graphical upscaling technology, Bethesda has committed to delivering an official fix for this issue. Additionally, promised but yet-to-arrive features include Brightness and Contrast controls, an HDR Calibration Menu, a FOV Slider, and a convenient button for automatically consuming in-game food rather than managing it through the inventory screen.
Despite Starfield being on the market for nearly a month, it appears to lag behind other recent blockbuster RPGs like Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 in terms of major updates. While the game didn’t suffer from significant bugs or performance issues on Xbox Series X/S at launch, it faced a somewhat rockier reception on PC. Critics have heaped praise on the game, but they’ve also highlighted various annoying UI problems and outdated systems, particularly the glaring lack of accessibility options.
The future of Starfield remains uncertain, but both Bethesda and Microsoft have expressed their commitment to ongoing post-launch support and the development of future DLC expansions for this ambitious space exploration epic.
