Uma Thurman and “Oh, Canada” director Paul Schrader bond over their shared musical interests.
Paul Schrader, the director of Oh, Canada and Uma Thurman have a similar taste in music.
Speaking on October 5, during the Oh, Canada premiere at the New York Film Festival, Uma said that she felt at ease knowing that Paul is a fan of Taylor Swift as well.
The 54-year-old recalled, “I was very nervous to meet him, you know, this macho movie-maker who made these legendary movies.”
The actress from Kill Room went on,“And as I was on my way to the meeting, a person driving me was Googling and she’s like, ‘Oh my God, he’s a huge Taylor Swift fan.’ I was like, ‘What?’”
“And then I was like, ‘Oh, I’m fine,'” Uma remarked after seeing Paul’s quote or tweet endorsing Taylor.
“I’m a really big fan of Paul Schrader,” the Burnt actress said, reflecting on her collaboration with him on the film. Therefore, it was an absolute pleasure to be able to contribute, to lend myself to his creation, and to watch him at work.
“I think the cast and crew were all there for Paul and learned so much, just watching him as a master,” Uma said, referring to Paul as “a big softie.”
She said, “So centered and I would say a big softie.”
The actress from Pulp Fiction noted, “The movie was shot in a very precise, quick way. There was not a lot of time.”
Uma said, giddy with excitement for Paul, “And to see a sort of master of cinema who is going to have to go in and get precisely exactly what he wants and needs… and has the entire vernacular language of cinema at his fingertips was just breathtaking.”
