Suki Waterhouse discusses creative freedom in Memoir of a Sparklemuffin.
Suki Waterhouse’s new album, Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin, which will be released on September 13, is expected to make ripples.
The 32-year-old singer is ready to go into the ‘dark underbelly’ of her previous relationships and heartbreaks, providing an uncensored glimpse into her emotional journey.
This 18-track album is a dramatic shift from her prior work, as she discusses experiences she was previously unable to express publicly.
In a recent interview, she revealed that the album is semi-autobiographical and addresses issues she has never mentioned before.
The record was finished just five days before the birth of her daughter with partner Robert Pattinson, whom she started seeing in 2018.
She’s doing it with a level of honesty and candor that was lacking in her previous work.
In an exclusive interview with DIY Magazine, Waterhouse revealed that she approached this album with a different mindset, devoid of the “hang-ups” that surrounded her first record.
The singer finds penning autobiographical songs “very appealing,” but admits there are some issues she is still not ready to fully tackle.
One noteworthy track, Lawsuit, delves into difficult and dark themes that she believes may be too delicate for public discussion.
“It’s about something I’d probably never be able to discuss in public,” she added, adding that the song depicts a common experience among women who share similar challenges.
“It’s not just about ‘F*** this guy!’ It’s more about women supporting each other and finding solidarity.”
