BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The pop icon Taylor Swift’s 34th birthday was a grand celebration at ArtsQuest’s Ice Rink at Steelstacks, where hundreds of Swifties gathered for “Taylor Swift Night” on December 13.
The event saw an overwhelming turnout with 380 tickets sold, marking it as the most popular and first sold-out themed skate night of 2023. Fans of Swift, also known as Swifties, came in droves for the two skating sessions at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., each eager to celebrate the star’s special day.
Kelly Sullivan, one of Swift’s biggest fans, was also celebrating Taylor swift birthday on December 13. Dressed in a gold “Happy Birthday” sash, she reminisced about her “Taylor Swift birthday” last year when she turned 22. Her favorite Swift song? “Tolerate It” from the album ‘1989’.
The night was a display of admiration and camaraderie among fans, who came dressed in Swift-inspired outfits. They wore friendship bracelets, cardigans (a nod to Swift’s song of the same name), and sweatshirts with Swift’s photo. Skating around the rink, some were “Fearless,” others “Delicate,” but all united in their love for Swift.
Even minor falls on the ice couldn’t dampen the spirits of these fans, who were there to celebrate everything about Taylor Swift, arguably one of the most talked-about celebrities today.
In the Warren family, both Sherry and her daughter, Brooke, are huge Swift fans. Sherry donned a “1989” cardigan, completing her “Eras” look, while Brooke wore a Swift sweatshirt and “T” and “S” stickers on her cheeks. Brooke even skipped her dance class, her favorite after-school hobby, to attend the event with her mom, bonding over their shared admiration for Swift.
The birthday girl, Taylor Swift, celebrated her day in “Style.” She kicked off the festivities in New York City with A-list friends including Selena Gomez, actor Miles Teller, and his wife, Keleigh Sperry. The 12-time Grammy winner also received a special delivery of white flowers, including roses rumored to be from her NFL beau, Travis Kelce, adding to the birthday excitement.
ArtsQuest, encouraged by the success of the Swift skate night, has announced more Swift-themed events, including “Tuesdays with Taylor” on December 19, January 2, and January 9. Moreover, the rink is hosting various other themed nights, such as disco night, an 80s Night, and a Y2K Pop Skate night.
For younger fans, there are kid-friendly themed sessions like the Princess Skate and Superhero Skate. And for fans of other artists, there’s something to look forward to as well – a Beyoncé Skate, a 90s Skate, and a Jonas Brothers night are on the calendar.
The rink, larger than last year, offers a diverse array of themed nights, ensuring that there’s something for every fan. With a food and beverage tent adjacent to the rink, complete with a full bar and sweet treats, the festive atmosphere is set for an unforgettable winter season.
