“I’m in love… with one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met.”
The romance between Jennifer Hudson and Common is going strong.
Two years after early dating rumors surfaced, the 42-year-old host of The Jennifer Hudson Show gave People Magazine an update on their relationship status on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Daytime Emmys.
Everything is great, Hudson said. That should cover everything.
In January, when the musician behind “The Light” appeared on her talk show, Hudson, 42, and Common, 52, appeared to confirm rumors about their relationship.
Surprised by many flowers, he revealed details about his love life.
“I’m in a relationship… with one of the most beautiful people I ever met,” he said, not revealing who his partner was. “She is gifted, intelligent, loves God, and has a very grounded quality.”
The rapper jokingly said he wanted his girlfriend to win the EGOT, something Hudson had previously done. Then Common posed the question to the Dreamgirls star, who expressed her delight in her relationship and asked about his own.
“I’m happy where this relationship is right now,” Common said.
“I get so thrilled just watching her happy. For that reason, I am very appreciative. I just let God direct this relationship, and I give Him thanks every day.”
The artist later discussed their public presence and disclosed their relationship in a Today with Hoda & Jenna interview.
He said he is “very private” about his personal life and things he holds precious, but he enjoyed their time together on Hudson’s show.
When the two Chicagoans were photographed together in their hometown after filming their 2024 picture Breathe, speculation about their romance began in 2022.
Ever since, they have been seen walking around New York City holding hands, going on a date night in Chicago at MJ: The Musical, and sitting courtside at a January Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers game.
